Investing in historic whiskey production in Bushmills

Old Bushmills Distillery is bringing forward proposals for the development of further whiskey maturation facilities.

The proposals would see the development of c. 29 new maturation warehouses at a site adjacent to Old Bushmills Distillery’s existing maturation facility at Haw Road, Bushmills. The proposals would also see landscaping and infrastructure improvements to support this development.

About the Applicant

Old Bushmills Distillery is the world’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery, with official records of its license to distill dating back to 1608. Since then, the experience and craft of distilling has been passed down from generation to generation. In recent years, the distillery has invested in growth, building on the distilling tradition and delivering jobs and economic opportunity in the area.

Pre-application Community Consultation

On Thursday 23rd October 2025 we hosted an in-person Public Information Event from 3pm – 7pm at Old Bushmills Distillery, Distillery Road, Bushmills. Members of the development team were available to discuss the application and answered a range or questions on the proposed development.
